STEM Ambassador, group leader and teacher networking/planning session

Where: STEM Sussex, Watts Building Room 401, University of Brighton, Lewes Road, Brighton, BN2 4GJ
When: Wednesday 22nd May 2019, 17.30
Key stage: ks1, ks2, ks3, ks4, ks5

This is an opportunity for teachers (Primary through to Sixth Form), group leaders (e.g. Guides/Scouts) and STEM Ambassadors (volunteers from STEM backgrounds) to get together and make plans for future activities.

You are invited to discuss your needs as a teacher/leader and how we can help find suitable volunteer support for you – for example to run ‘lunch with a Scientist’ sessions, STEM activities, or linking to careers to meet the Gatsby benchmarks.

The session will start with a light icebreaker, we will then work together to sketch out activities and put solid plans in place. We will bring along ideas for easy, low-cost activities that really work, and most importantly the chance to throw ideas around with other people!

This is intended to be an informal opportunity to share ideas and plan for the summer, rather than a formal training session. You will also be able to place ‘adverts’ for volunteer support (either from the attending volunteers or for our wider network).

If you would like to, there will be the opportunity to talk to the group as a whole for a few moments about what you hope to do (either as a STEM Ambassador or teacher) and what kind of support you’re looking for – just let us know.

To attend please register below. Feel free to bring along any ideas you already have, and if you’d like to place an advert for volunteer support there and then, bring a laptop/tablet.

We look forward to meeting you.
