A popular STEM Sussex annual event, funded by IMechE Automative Division Southern Centre and hosted by Ricardo at their Centenary Centre in Shoreham-by-Sea.

Students will be split into two teams of four, and use Scalextric components, including a motor, wheels and pre-cut chassis and body which they will fit together and modify. They’ll create a trailer and gearing system to enable their car to pull a weight and compete in the hill climb challenge. They’ll also race their cars, be judged on their design skills and trophies awarded to the highest scoring teams.

Ricardo automotive STEM Ambassadors will help students throughout the activity and be available to talk about their study and work aspirations.

Teams will be helped by STEM Ambassadors working in the car industry who can answer any questions about studying and work aspirations. Teams will then be judged on their design process and race results.

This event is open to eight schools who can bring eight Year 9 students, accompanied by 1 teacher.

This event is now full.
