A popular STEM Sussex annual event, funded by IMechE Automative Division Southern Centre and hosted by Ricardo at their Centenary Centre in Shoreham-by-Sea.

We have places for nine schools. Each school can enter a maximum of eight students each (2 teams of four). NB places are limited to and we will not be able to accommodate extra students on the day.

Suitable for Year 8 and 9 students.

Teams will have the use of a radio controller, receiver and two servos. They will put their design and engineering skills to the test by using cardboard, masking tape and various other materials to design and decorate their robot. They will then compete in a sumo wrestling and football challenge.

Teams will be helped by STEM Ambassadors working in the car industry who can answer any students’ questions about studying and work aspirations. Teams will then be judged on their design process and challenge results and winners will be awarded a trophy by a senior member of Ricardo.

Students will also receive guided tours of Ricardo’s cutting edge facilities including the McLaren assembly line, environmental emissions testing and noise and vibrations testing.

Places are running low, so if you are interested don’t delay in registering your school via the link below.
