Work placements and early experience in industry play a vital role in introducing young people to the world of work and to the wealth of opportunities available in STEM related careers.

Nuffield Science Bursaries

Nuffield Science Bursaries offer up to 1000 funded places a year, so that students across the UK can get an insight into the world of scientific research.
The scheme helps students to take part in science based projects, lasting 4-6 weeks, in universities, industry or research institutions during the summer holidays. Students work alongside practising scientists.

Engineering Education Scheme

The Engineering Education Scheme encourages Year 12 students to recognise the importance of science and engineering by providing an opportunity to gain useful skills and experience by working on a challenging project in partnership with industry. The students involved are those high flyers who will be tomorrow’s leaders of industry.

The Year in Industry is a national scheme that places bright, motivated students with companies for paid, 12-month, degree relevant work placements in the gap year before or during their degree course. students are carefully matched with companies on the basis of their chosen degree course - often engineering, science, IT or business.
