IET Enrichment Activities
Activities supported by The Institution of Engineering and Technology, in partnership with STEM Sussex.
Advanced Sports Imaging
- Key Stage: 4
- Age: 13 - 16
- Length: 2 hours
Discover and apply advanced imaging technology essential for improving performance in sport. Students will use high speed analysis and mathematical reasoning to calculate the speed of a moving football, and investigate body temperature after exercise using thermal imaging.
STEM in Music
- Key Stage: 3 - 4
- Age: 13 - 16
- Length: 2 hours
Examine the science of sound through electronic music production, analysing how the wave form of voices and instruments can be manipulated using technology. Developed with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), this cross-curricular activity raises awareness of physics based careers.
Control Technology
- Key Stage: 2
- Age: 7 - 11
- Length: 2 hours
Pupils will explore the vast application of control technology applied in the real world around them whilst developing essential ICT skills. Programming is made simple with CoCo3 software, where pupils will use write programmes to solve problems including controlling flashing traffic lights and burglar alarms.
