Primary CPD

Build confidence in delivering the STEM curricula throughout the whole school by having bespoke teacher and support staff Continuing Professional subject Development workshops delivered at your school.

Having in-school CPD for all staff makes sense as it reduces CPD costs, expands resources ideas and effectively trains all staff members and enhances specific subject knowledge across the school.

Our sessions include Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 content to develop your school’s subject knowledge in the area of your need and choice. The workshops provide wide-ranging knowledge to allow comprehensive STEM explanations and investigations for the struggling or more able pupil allowing you to provide personalised learning to all your pupils.

Each workshop focuses on the core curriculum title knowledge whilst placing it in context with the wider curriculum dimensions. And most importantly they offer opportunities for fun, engaging investigations and learning in a relaxed atmosphere.

Build your delivery knowledge in:

Chemistry
Investigate different material properties, rock types and insulators needed to build a shelter. Be captivated during the introduction to chemical reactions and how they can be used to write secret messages and understand acid rain. Make your own crystal garden and watch a crystal grow before your eyes. An engaging hands-on workshop for all!

Design and Technology
Using our suite of laptops the session runs from data capture, building and computer aided modelling to using simple machines, levers and pulleys linking science, ICT and Art subjects.

Electricity

Does the current run from positive to negative or vice versa? This charged workshop explains electricity from its basic electron movement and circuits to tantalizing static electricity phenomena. Use problem-solving and deduction to fix simple circuits as an electrical engineer and more.

Forces

It all began with Newton’s apple which we have preserved for you to see! Newton has a lot to answer for, as we move through gravity on the earth and the moon, push and pull force investigations, up-thrust and thrust demonstrations. We will cover friction and its effect on our existence, pressure and explosions. An exciting day of science ‘play and learning’.

Microbiology
Good and Bad things come in little packages! An exciting introduction into the world of microbiology through investigating hygiene, the spread of disease, food technology, composting and recycling. See live micro organisms, grow your own cultures safely and understand the risks associated with handling microbes. Build a compost heap in the classroom and make food last longer with microbes. After this workshop you will never NOT wash your hands after visiting the toilet!

Plants and the Environment
A workshop which considers sustainability both globally and locally in the school. The session looks at biodiversity and ecology and instructs on building different habitats in your school ground, regardless of the presence of green space or even much space! The truth behind recycling and our carbon foot print, buying valentine roses from Africa and the effect of climate change on our wildlife are just a few of the issues addressed.
