Sussexroutes - online progression agreements for Sussex

Just launched, Sussexroutes is a groundbreaking online tool which enables learners to search over 200 special agreements set up to support progression into and through higher education in Sussex.
Sussexroutes is for people who are living, working or studying in Sussex. It has been designed to help learners and prospective learners to search the special agreements that have been set up between some of the university and college courses in Sussex, or for people with experience in a particular industry.
These agreements can help learners progress to a higher education course, by guaranteeing an interview, or in some cases an offer of a place on a course.
Sussexroutes will also be useful for tutors and advisers working with students who are looking to progress. With Sussexroutes, learners can:
- find out about agreements that have been set up to support people to progress from a specific qualification, or with experience in a particular industry
- find out about agreements that exist to support people to progress into a specific qualification
- download a PDF of any agreement or add it to a personal planning pack and download it with a range of other resources gathered on the Learning opportunities website
- save several agreements online, and come back to look at the details later.

Kent College Pembury student triumphs at top national science and engineering fair

14 March 2008
A student from Kent College Pembury scooped one of the top prizes at the prestigious UK Young Scientists’ and Engineers’ Fair which took place at the Centre of the Cell in Whitechapel, London on 7 March.
At the event, which marked the start of National Science and Engineering Week, top young achievers aged 11-19 showcased outstanding science and technology research projects and competed for prize money for themselves and their schools, as well as international prizes and experiences.
Georgina Little was awarded The Best CREST Technology Project at Silver Level – Winner for her project ‘Road Safety for Children’
Sir David King, President of the BA (British Association for the Advancement of Science) says: ‘The achievement of the young people who gain these prizes is not just winning an exciting trip or a handsome trophy. In completing their projects they have been able to work like real scientists and engineers, and to find out for themselves how enjoyable and rewarding that can be. It is terrific to see this all come together at the Fair and I hope that many more young people will have this opportunity in the future.’
The Young Scientists’ and Engineers’ Fair is organised by the BA (British Association for the Advancement of Science). The BA would like to thank Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust, Research Councils UK and AstraZeneca for their sponsorship, and Centre of the Cell for their kind provision of the venue.
