Employer Case Study - Rolls-Royce

Rolls Royce

“At Rolls-Royce we work very closely with STEMNET to help encourage students to study science and engineering with approximately 200 employees acting as Science and Engineering Ambassadors. Schools creating the new clubs have a great opportunity to inspire students to become the next generation of scientists and engineers and to engage with industry through the STEMNET ambassador programme.”

Graham Hopkins, Director of Engineering & Technology Defence Aerospace, Rolls-Royce plc.

Employer Case Study - Thales UK

Thales

“Thales UK employs over 9,000 employees based in more than 50 locations throughout all regions, with a high proportion of staff being involved in science, technology and engineering. As a company, therefore, the themes of youth, technology and education are key for us and Science and Engineering Clubs are an excellent way of enthusing and encouraging our next generation of employees.”

Dawn Ohlson C.Eng M.Eng MIET, Director - Educational Affairs

Thales supports the STEM Ambassador Programme as it supports the local community.  It is widely agreed that we need young people to be given a strong foundation in science so that they can be confident in taking decisions in their own lives that are based on scienctific understanding, are aware of the role of science in shaping our culture and continue to study science and aspire to science-based careers.  Our Graduate engineers are currently working towards either IEng or CEng so being a STEM Ambassador helps with their Professional Conduct Competancies as well as supporting the community!
