Nuffield Research Placement Celebration Evening (Hampshire)

Where: Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium
When:  Monday 16th October 2017, 5:30 pm
Key Stage: KS4

Nuffield Research Placements (previously Nuffield Science Bursaries) provide over 1,000 year 12 (age 16/17) students each year with the opportunity to work alongside professional scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians on an in-depth research or development based project, during their Summer holidays.

This celebration event offers all students who have taken part in the scheme in Hampshire the opportunity to present their projects to invited guests, and they will also be presented with certificates to acknowledge their achievements. Many students will also be assessed for the prestigious Gold CREST award (British Science Association).

This year's event will be attended by around 20 students from Hampshire, showcasing high-level project work covering a diverse range of topics such as:

Computational phenotypic analysis of genetic diagnosis: an evaluation of platforms
Developing a scanning Coulter counter for the detection of nanobubbles
Mission script verification for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

The event is open to participating students and their family, project providers, guests from academia/industry and school/college representatives teaching year 12s. A light buffet will be served.
