Cool Aeronautics is the Royal Aeronautical Society’s primary school outreach programme that aims to introduce children to the fascinating world and people of flying, aerospace engineering, and space. Based around a day of aerospace themed talks and interactive workshops with Key Stage 2 primary school pupils, Cool Aeronautics events are FREE to attend! In 2016 the Cool Aeronautics Programme hosted 30 events around the globe, these were attended by 2,210 students from 75 different primary schools.
Gatwick Aviation Museum has a unique collection of British aircraft from the "golden age" of British aircraft manufacture. From the end of WWII until the 1970's British aircraft designers produced some of the most innovative and advanced aircraft of the day. From post war to cold war, this museum clearly shows that timeline in aviation terms. This Cool Aeronautics event will offer an exciting programme of activities tailored to suit primary school children in Years 5 & 6. There will be a series of talks from aviation professionals covering different aspects of aviation and aerospace, all designed to inform and raise aspirations. There will also be a series of hands on workshops that will implement the basic topics covered in the talks.
Hope to see you there!
